Board and Management

The Board of Directors of Talga Group Ltd is responsible for corporate governance of the Company. The Board’s governing principle in meeting this responsibility is to act honestly, conscientiously and justly, in accordance with the law, in the interests of shareholders, employees and other stakeholders.

Terry Stinson
Non-Executive Chair

Mr Stinson has over 35 years’ Executive and Non-Executive Director experience, working for global innovation companies across a range of industry segments, along with a proven track record of forming and leading international business collaborations and joint ventures.

Formerly the CEO and Managing Director of Orbital Corporation, VP for Global Fuel Systems at Siemens AG, CEO and Managing Director of Synerject and VP of Manufacturing Outboard Marine Corporation, Mr Stinson is currently the Non-Executive Chair of wave energy technology developer Carnegie Clean Energy Limited, Non-Executive Director of Aurora Labs Limited, and Non-Executive Director of Engentus Pty Ltd.

Mark Thompson
Managing Director

Mr Thompson has over 30 years’ global experience in the geoscience and mineral industries including project discovery, development, technology and management. He is a member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists, the Society of Economic Geologists and the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology.

Mr Thompson founded Talga and previously founded and served on the Board of ASX-listed Catalyst Metals Limited. Mr Thompson was a Non-Executive Director of Gibb River Diamonds Limited.

Grant Mooney
Non-Executive Director

Mr Mooney has a background in corporate advisory with extensive experience in equity capital markets, corporate governance and M&A transactions along with a wealth of experience in resources and technology markets. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.

Mr Mooney is a Non-Executive Director of several ASX-listed companies including wave energy technology developer Carnegie Clean Energy Limited, 3D metal printing technology company Aurora Labs Limited, and mineral resources companies Riedel Resources Ltd, Accelerate Resources Limited, and Gibb River Diamonds Limited.

Eva Nordmark
Non-Executive Director

Ms Nordmark, who joined the Talga AB board in December 2023, has previously served as the Swedish Minister of Employment and Gender Equality. Before assuming her role as a Minister in two consecutive cabinets, Ms Nordmark held the position of President of the Swedish Confederation of Professional Employees (TCO) and also served as a member of the Swedish Parliament.

Martin Phillips
Chief Executive Officer

Mr Phillips is an experienced project manager, commercial manager and company director with over 25 years of global metals and mining sector experience. As Talga Group’s CEO, Mr Phillips oversees the establishment of the company’s vertically integrated, low-emission battery and advanced material production. This encompasses mine and production plant development in northern Sweden, pilot processing operations in Germany and product R&D in Cambridge, UK.

Building on an early career that included engineering and commercial roles in Australian and UK Operations with MIM (now Glencore) and Iluka Resources., Mr Phillips constructed and managed operations and implemented growth strategies for offshore smelting businesses.

Mr Phillips holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (Honours) and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment. He is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and he holds a Confederation of British Industry (C.B.I.) Engineering Award.

Anna Motta
Chief Technology Officer

A chemist with over 20 years of expertise in carbon nanomaterials and extensive experience in managing R&D programs. Heads up Talga’s technologies and advanced materials unit focusing on the development of next generation products. Formerly the manager of several research programs at Cambridge Graphene Centre with particular focus on industry partnerships and technology transfer. Previous positions include science and management roles at the National Research Centre of Finland and the University of Cambridge.

Eva Pijnenburg
Group Director People & Culture, Health & Safety

20+ years experience across a range of HR management and recruitment consultancy positions. A strong background in labor law and negotiations, as well as HR department and process development to support people and company culture.  

Per-Inge Kruse
Group Director BD & Strategic Alliances

20+ years of experience in sales, BD and strategic alliances across the automotive and marine industries. Former Executive Director of automotive design and development group FEV’s Swedish subsidiary and Head of BD at transport and energy engineering consultancy Ricardo.

A prominent industry figure in northern Sweden with extensive history as business developer, company and project manager.
